HOW TO MEASURE
Custom Made Curtains and Ready Mades
For curtains that hang perfectly, it's important to measure your windows accurately first to ensure a correct fit. Ready Made Curtains come in pairs, in set sizes - remember, measurements shown are per curtain, not per pair.
Before you start:
•Get a friend to help – it's easier with two!
•Even when windows look the same size, they often aren't - so measure every window individually
•Use a wide blade steel tape measure
•Sketch the basic shape of your window, and its distance from the floor and ceiling, and write in measurements as you go
Heading and Drops
The length of your curtains will be determined by your drop, and by your heading style.
•Do you want your curtains to finish at the window sill, below the sill, or to the floor?
•Pinch pleat, eyelet or tab top? Different headers will hang or pull differently and affect the finishing length of your curtains.
Pinch Pleat Heading
•If using a curtain track, measure from the top of the track, to where you want the curtain to finish
•If using a curtain pole, measure from the bottom of each curtain ring, to where you want the curtain to finish.
•Measure the track or pole width (excluding the finials) – not the window
•If you have a track with a centre overlap, measure the total width of the track, plus the overlap size
Eyelet and Tab Top Heading
•Measure from the top of the pole (where the ring would sit) to where you want the curtain to finish
